My web traffic is up because of Twitter! I met Rudy from Trulia in person because of Twitter. I've gotten 4 clients, all from Twitter. I do get ideas and read news, blog posts and interact with Tweeple I would have no access to otherwise all because of Twitter.

@Jonathan, your network on Facebook more than likely already knows you. Think of twitter as a way to get to know "Cold Contacts" in your industry, neighborhood, or market place or more important become the Virtual Market Expert in your town.

Twitter is like the old "CNN" was when Ted Turner stated 24 hour news channel and everyone thought he was crazy. Today after a major story, I check Twitter. When the plane landed on the Hudson in New York, I followed the guy who took the picture of the plane in the water from ferry picking up passengers off the wings. His picture was used the next day on all news organizations. Also sent him a tweet about his experience and he responded back to me the next day..pretty cool tool.I found him using real time results from Twitter, you can not get fresher news than that.

I get it. And always have. Tech Savy you are right, if all you get out of it is the "up to the second news" as a Realtor you are already ahead of about 99% of the rest of the Realtors today! The more you know in todays market, the more you make.

You can also use it to supplement your Real-estate Website/blog by using a plugin or one of Twitters widgets to post your updates right to your home page. Send out a daily market report or a daily report on interest rates. Remember these are short little tidbits that can't be longer than 140 characters.

Also, you are "focusing on Facebook" for relationship building and prospecting as you well should be. Focus on Twitter as a way to bring the up to the second news and info that's relevant to your business and local market to you instead of searching for it! Big misconception that FB and TwitteR serve the same purpose for different audiences. Just not the case.
