Greg Grospitch is making another cameo at Tech Savvy Agent and provided the guest blog that you are about to read below. Greg shares his insight with his experience with Glassdoor.com, a service he used to find his current employer!
New Tool to Recruit the Best and Brightest!
So by now you all are probably well aware that your online reputation is just as important as your offline reputation. But did you know that social media can be affecting the quantity and quality of your recruitment efforts? That’s right, more and more people are turning to the internet, and social media, to research their next place of business. By taking a few small steps to improve your Brokerage’s online reputation, you can begin a recruitment campaign so strong; it would make Pete Bell from Blue Chips jealous.
Every brokerage out there looking for new and seasoned agents has some type of campaign complete with “We offer the best training and spiffs in the industry” collateral. You might even be pushing your agency on Facebook and Twitter, but in today’s world, peer reviews are worth their weight in gold. In order to effectively legitimize your claims as the brokerage with the happiest agents in town, your recruitment efforts need to include non-bias third party validation on why they should sell for you.
Enter: Glassdoor.com
Glassdoor.com is a social media site designed to let perspective employees research companies based on current and past employee reviews. Packed full of Salary Information, Interview Questions, and Management Reviews, this site is becoming the go-to for job research. Would be new hires, are looking to Glassdoor to help them make the decision on where to bring their talent.
How can you leverage the power of the Glassdoor?
Luckily for you, your business must be signed up before reviews can be left on the site. But just because there are no negative reviews, doesn’t mean your company appears positive. People are looking for good reviews, not a lack of bad ones, and since this hasn’t been leveraged by a huge number of Real Estate Agencies, it means you can be ahead of the curve by being among the first to put your Brokerage’s good name out there.
To begin, you must go to the site and sign up.
When signing up you have two options, you can sign up for a free account, which allows employees to post reviews on a generic page with just your company name, or a paid version which will allow you to add some “swag” to your page including your logo, personal messaging, a spot to advertise for open positions, and feeds from your Facebook and Twitter Accounts. The decision to advertise your company with the paid version is completely up to you, I will tell you the paid version it is a little pricy as it starts at $495/mo, however a few new Top Producing agents a year will more cover your investment.
Next I recommend you find your happiest, top producing agents in the office and ask them if they would review your brokerage on the site. This is no different than asking a satisfied past client for a recommendation, and just as vital to the future of your recruitment efforts. By proactively seeking positive reviews, your employer page on Glassdoor can quickly become a powerful took for recruiting the best and brightest, who want to be happy with their broker as well.
Once you add Glassdoor to your recruiting toolbox, take a page out of LaVar Burton’s Book and say “ We have the best training and spiff’s in the industry”, “But you don’t have to take my word for it…”, and send them over to Glassdoor to prove your claims.
