I have visualized the data collected in the chart below. There were 140 responses total. Some technicalities include many responses were “same” as in “I check Facebook and Email the same”. When that answer was given I put a mark in both columns. Also, Facebook, MLS and Twitter are often checked in email so that also had an impact on the results.

So what can we learn from the data?

#1. Email is not dead even with the rise of social media, may have said it is becoming passe, data shows otherwise

#2. Facebook is dominating Twitter in the real estate space, I see that as an opportunity to use Twitter more

#3. The MLS is not looked at as a needed resource anymore (sorry just the data)

#4. I now see why Facebook wants to add email integration and by doing so could really eat into the numbers

#4. Email as an aggregator of the other tools is what made it the winner by a mile

I get asked all the time about how a Mac Book Pro works with the MLS and various other real estate programs.  Short answer is that yes you can buy a Mac today and you will be fully compatible with anything you need by leveraging Parallels which runs Windows 7 or XP.  The beauty of the Mac OSX is that it runs anything a PC can, but a PC can’t run anything that a Mac can so “best of both worlds” does come to mind.  If you are a real estate agent considering a Mac for your next purchase don’t fret it is an option and the best one at that!
