I wrote this quick little post a few months back about my favorite website for camera reviews called DPReview.  It’s an excellent website with all the info you need to make a smart decision in your camera purchase, but if you don’t know the things to look for in a camera for a real estate, you still might get stuck!  So, I thought I would do a quick video and give you some tips in selecting a great camera to fit your budget….. if you have one

Kyle is a good friend of mine and I have known him for years.  When he decided to put his home on the market I thought it would be a great time to try HDhat’s video home tour, from a first timers perspective, to get a clear understanding of the process and see if it lives up to the hype.  I have been asked on a previous post if HDhat pays me a “kickback” since I have talked about them quite a few times before.  I have never been paid a single cent from anyone or anything associated with Tech Savvy Agent, period. Chris, Suzanne and I have always done this for free.  We have always been opinionated with what we like and what we don’t… and we all like HDhat’s service.

Since I have a photography background, I wanted to remove myself form the equation and let Kyle do everything from start to finish without any input from me.  I did supply the camera for him, but he took it from there.  After about 20 minutes of filming, Kyle was finished and we uploaded the files to the site. Less than 24 hours later, this came back to us.

This is the $29.95 video option from HDhat! Is it the best video ever filmed? No. Did the first visitors to the house remark that they came out to see the home because of the video? YES! I have said it once and I will say it again. There is no reason not to do a video home tour of every listing with services like this available.  Of course hiring a professional to come out and film is always recommended, but when you can get results like this the very first time and at this price… well, it’s mighty attractive.

We had a request for some of the original footage of the shoot that day.  I wanted to add it into the post so you could see a side by side comparison.

People will soon begin to buy tablets as their sole computing machine and why not?  They are getting so powerful and are easier to use than their larger counterparts.  If you thought Apple was selling a ton of iPads now (they are, Apple sells more iPads than Macs already) then wait until this happens.

What does this mean to you and why am I writing about this?  If your website has flash and isn’t tablet friendly, you need to start making the necessary adjustments now if you haven’t already.  In 2016 (arbitrary date) we will look at large clunky computers as specialized niche machines and the portable, light handheld will become the norm in my opinion.
